Wedding can be very expensive when you are arranging multiple vendors for your big day. The only real expense is that done for rings, marriage license and officiant! You can cut down a lot of expenses by following these tips. A small difference in expenses for each vendor can make a big difference in your entire wedding budget. Let’s go over these tips.
- Wedding date: Plan your wedding for a weekday in an off-season. You are likely to get a good deal for venue, accomodation for guests and decoration which make up a major portion of your wedding budget.
- Pre-wedding functions such as bridal shower, bachelor party etc. can be organized at home.
- Venue: Choosing a public place for your wedding can cut down on your expenditure significantly. Community hall, public park or county lawns can be used as venue.
- Number of guests: Keep your guest list small. This cannot be emphasized enough. Smaller your guest list lesser will be your expenses.
- Accommodation for guests: Choose the accommodation close to your wedding venue. This will help you reduce the expenses on transport.
- Decoration: To cut down the cost of decoration you can DIY your decor. Create a pinterest board and search for decor ideas according to your wedding theme. DIY decor will add a personal touch and help you cut down the cost. You can also look for decor objects in thrift stores and DIY on them to create your own unique decor.
- Lighting: Use natural light to cut down on lighting expenditure. Outdoor events on lawns help to reduce your expenses.
- Food and drinks: Expenses on food make up a major portion of your wedding budget. Keep your menu limited to selected foods and drinks. Focus on quality rather than quantity. Hiring a bartended is a great idea. He is a professional and knows how much drink needs to be served. It will help to optimise the number of drinks that can be served per bottle.
- Entertainment: Have your family perform on your big day! It not only adds emotional value to your big day but also helps to reduce your expenditure on entertainment.
- Make-up: I agree that everyone cannot be as skilled as a makeup artist but trust me this is mone thing you can manage on your own. There are hundreds of makeup tutorials on youtube. Try to practice several months before or take help from a friend or relative who is good at it.
- Prewedding beauty treatments: Healthy is beautiful. Try to focus on good nutrition and exercise. Take care of your skin everyday. you may need to focus on this one several months in advance. Never try to get a last minute beauty treatment. You could be allergic to the product and you do not want to have any last minute issues with your appearance.
- Invitations: They make up a very small percentage of your budget but if your wedding list is very long then you may want to have budget invitations. Invitations have to be beautiful but if you choose a 3 in 1 type of invitation or invitations with all information on one card, you can decrease the cost of invitation printing. E-cards are another way of reducing the cost of your invitation.
These are some small tips that can help you cut down the cost of your wedding. At the end of the day, weddings should be beautiful not expensive.
